STRONGEST IN AFRICA

Cameroon is regarded as one of the strongest teams in Africa, while they are also definitely the most successful as well. They recently managed to qualify for the World Cup after a 4-1 win against Tunisia.

The Cameroon national team has been suffering a lot in recent times due to a lot of infighting. They are expected to struggle in the World Cup qualifying as a result of this infighting, but they have put behind all their recent troubles and qualified for the World Cup 2014 in style. Cameroon have not done well in the recent African cup of nations despite being the most successful team in the tournament.

This result means that the team has now gone without defeat since February, which is a great achievement considering their troubles just over a year ago. Webo’s goal as early as in the fourth minute helped settle the nerves for Cameroon, who are coming into the match on the back of a 0-0 draw in the first leg. Moukandjo then scored in the 30th minute to double the advantage of the home team. It looked like they were going to seal a comfortable path to the World Cup, but Akaïchi pulled one back for the away team.

Makoun’s brace in the second half, though, was enough to see Cameroon into the seventh World Cup finals. “We’ve been through several long and difficult years. Now, I think we identified the problem, which is concord among us. We can achieve better results in the future and I think our performance today shows that we have a bright future,” Makoun said. “Brazil, here we come,” said Cameroon captain Samuel Eto’o.

Cameroon will be joined by the likes of Ivory Coast and Nigeria, who have been very strong in recent years. They could be considered as the dark horses for the tournament.
