Clarence Seedorf, the man in charge of the Cameroon national Football team, has made it clear that the two veteran players Joel Matip and Nicolas Nkoulou are in his plans as far as the selections for the upcoming AFCON are concerned, but if they don’t show any interest in taking part in the tournament, then the team management is not going to force them for that. Seedorf acknowledged that both of them are playing good Football at the club level at the moment and can prove to be valuable for the team which is the reason why ever since he has taken charge, he has made an effort to get in touch with them and try and talk to them with regard to the possibility of them getting back to international Football again, but they have not responded in a positive manner yet and he can’t keep waiting forever. If they don’t desire to be selected, then there has to be a point where he will have to look towards the other players, but if they want their names to be considered, the team management is approachable all the time.

CAMEROON NEARING STADIUM COMPLETION AHEAD OF THE 2021 AFCON

The 2021 African Cup of Nations is expected to be held in Cameroun after the country was stripped of hosting the 2019 tournament. This according to the regional body CAF was as a result of non-completion of facilities ahead of time. This setback has seen Cameroun move towards ensuring that the facilities would be ready before the next CAF inspection. Some weeks back the Minister in Charge of the construction works Ibrahim Talba  Malla visited one of the major Stadium for the tournament named the Olembe Stadium.

There is chaos in the Cameroonian top tier league as the various teams involved in the competition have staged a boycott of all the opening games at the Yaounde Military Stadium. Cameroonian league teams have decided to pass up all the opening games of the season and there is a lot of talk about the current situation in the country.

One More Chance Given To Cameroon To Host The Upcoming Cup Of Nations

Cameroon has been given the 2nd chance to host the Africa Cup of Nations, 2021. Last Friday, Confederation of African Football (CAF) stripped of Cameroon, from hosting the next year edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, the reason for denial was confirmed by Ahmad Ahmad, the President of Caf. According to Ahmad Ahmad, the president, Cameroon was restrained from hosting the 2019 AFCON’s next edition in order to avoid a repeat of the year 2010, in which some of the players were under attack by the separatists of Cabinda in Angola in addition to delays in the preparation of infrastructure.

Clarence Seedorf The New Coach For Cameroon

Cameroon recently made an announcement on the appointment this summer for the new head coach to be Clarence Seedorf. Well, the choice of one of the high-profile names did catch the attention of everyone. It seemed like a glamour choice which put Cameroon in the limelight. Seedorf would be guided by his fellow Patrick Kluivert, the former Dutch International. When the fortune of Cameroon was stuck as it failed to achieve the World Cup last season, the appointment of the duo did appear to bring things under control. Cameroon has achieved several Cup of Nations titles and the Olympic gold medal in 2000 Sydney in addition to 1990 World Cup quarter finals. This national team has mostly been at the forefront as far as Asian football is concerned.

Seedorf believes in his players

New Cameroon coach Clarence Seedorf believes that his team will improve in the next games. He was speaking after the match that saw his team draws against lowly Comoros. He said that he was pleased with his players as they have done everything they can in the game. Clarence Seedorf said that there is still a lot of work to be done and that the objective of the team is to make it to the next African Cup of Nations as well as the World Cup in Qatar. He said that a big nation as Cameroon should always be present in the big competition and this is what he wants to achieve with the team.

Cameroon Appoints A New Coach

Clarence Seedorf, the ex Dutch international midfielder has been appointed as Cameroon’s new coach in addition to Patrick Kluivert, who would assist Seedorf who has already been his teammate before. Pierre Ismael Bidoung Mkpatt, the Minister of Sport & Education of Cameroon made the announcement in a news conference. There were talks about Sven-Goran Eriksson; the ex-England manager could not get to an agreement. Seedorf is all set to take over from Hugo Broos, the Belgian who was leading the side for a win at African Nations Cup finals in 2017. However, he failed to achieve victory during the World Cup in Russia. Since then, Alexandre Belinga is the caretaker coach. The Nations Cup title will be defended by Cameroon in their home soil next year, which would be the debut major final test for the new team.

CAMEROON, ZIMBABWE AND NIGERIA CLOSE TO AFCON QUALIFICATION

Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Cameroon are close to qualifying for the Women’s African Cup of Nations set to take place in Ghana. The three nations all won the first leg of their games played on Wednesday. The Cameroon team was the biggest winners, defeating their opponents Congo Brazzaville 5-0 away from home. The AFCON 2016 runners-up made a statement with the results as they prepare ahead of the tournament. Nigeria defeated The Gambia by the slimmest of margins; the same result the Zimbabwean side edged their Zambian rivals.

CAMEROON TO GO AHEAD WITH 2019 AFCON HOSTING

Amid concerns about the economic landscape in Cameroon and the delayed construction schedule, there were reports that the country would have a hard time hosting the 2019 African Cup of Nations. However, the sports minister Ismael Bidoung has assured the public that they are ready to host the rest of the continent in 2019. “Despite security concerns, social and economic crises, the government and President Paul Biya are totally engaged to do everything for the Nations Cup to go ahead,” the minister said. The defending champions of the AFCON title insist that they would be very good host but Algeria and Morocco are gearing up as back-up options. The minister said the group games would go on as planned in the original bid: Yaounde, Garoua, Douala and Bafoussam. He said the city of Limbe has been added to make it five. More venues are required for training but Bidoung says all factors are being considered.
