Arsenal are almost certain to be in the market for a new goalkeeper and Cameroon shot stopper Onana could be their man. German international Bernd Leno is the first choice goalkeeper at Arsenal but the ex-Bayer Leverkusen playercould leavethe club this summer if recent reports in the British media are anything togo by. Leno has two years left on his current Arsenal deal.

The Gunners could still need a new goalkeeper if Leno stays beyond this summer. Brighton and Hove Albion loanee Mat Ryan is the second choice goalkeeper at the club ahead of Alex Runarsson. Icelandic international Runarsson is now the third choice goalkeeper at the Emirates Stadium following the arrival of Ryan from Brighton in January. Australian shot stopper Ryan is on a short-term loan from the Seagulls until the end of the season. Arsenal have the option of signing Ryan permanently on a free transfer as his Brighton deal expires in the summer.

Cameroon shot stopper Onana is an Arsenal target as established earlier but nothing would come out of it if he stays banned at the end of the hearing at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in June.

Onana was banned for 12 months earlier this year by UEFA after he tested positive to a banned substance. He has been banned until February 2022 but his sentence could be reduced at CAS next month. A move could be on the cards if his sentence is reduced next month.

The Cameroon national team goalkeeper can start to train with his club if his sentence is reduced at the end of the scheduled CAS hearing in June.
