Seedorf believes in his players

New Cameroon coach Clarence Seedorf believes that his team will improve in the next games. He was speaking after the match that saw his team draws against lowly Comoros. He said that he was pleased with his players as they have done everything they can in the game. Clarence Seedorf said that there is still a lot of work to be done and that the objective of the team is to make it to the next African Cup of Nations as well as the World Cup in Qatar. He said that a big nation as Cameroon should always be present in the big competition and this is what he wants to achieve with the team.

CAMEROON TO HOST AFCON OFFICIALS

Cameroon are set to host Confederation of African Football (CAF) officials ahead of the expanded 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. The long awaited inspection is to ascertain the level of preparedness of the hosts. The inspection team is reportedly set to arrive on January 11 after the last visit was cancelled. PriceWaterhouseCoopers withdrew from the last visit on short notice without giving reasons but new consultants Roland Berger are expected to meet the new schedule so it does not affect the timeline for the next AFCON.

CAMEROON FAILS TO QUALIFY FOR WORLDCUP

Cameroon has failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia after the draw against Nigeria in a match counting for the World Cup qualifiers. This means that Cameroon only has three points in their group after 4 matches and has no chance of ending the qualifiers on top of their group. Cameroon coach Hugo Broos said that this is a major disappointment for the team as well as the country as they were hoping to make it to the next World Cup. He believes that this is an opportunity for the team to rebuild from scratch and to ensure that they are ready for the next competition.

AFRICAN TEAMS CLIMB FIFA RANKINGS

Nigeria climbed three spots in the latest FIFA Coca Cola rankings from 44th to the 41st spot. The latest rankings were released on the FIFA’s official website. The three time African champs were the first to qualify for the World Cup in 2018 after seeing off a challenge from group rivals Zambia. The African giants qualified with a game left following a narrow defeat of Zambia at the Goodswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on October 7. The victory and feat helped Nigeria surge three spots though they remain fifth in Africa.
