SONG: CESC WILL STAY

Cameroon international Alex Song has stated that he expects midfielder Cesc Fabregas to remain at Barcelona for the new season. The former Arsenal midfielder has been heavily linked with the Manchester United.

The Premier league outfit have already made two offers for the player. Their first offer of £ 25 million was instantly rejected, while the latest offer is believed to be around £ 30 million along with a few add-ons. This has also been rejected by Barcelona, while its manager Gerardo Martino stated that it is highly likely that a third bid will also be rejected.

This comes as a major blow for United, who are keen to strengthen the midfield after a disappointing performance from the midfielders last season. The club has so far not made any significant signings in this transfer window.

Newman David Moyes recently expressed his confidence at being able to sign a couple of players before the transfer window closes. Moyes has revealed on several occasions that he has money to spend, and it seems that they are willing to go as far as £ 40 million with a third offer for the midfielder.

Despite this, Song, who played with Fabregas at Arsenal, has said that the 26-year-old wants to give his Barcelona career more time.

“I did not speak with him but I know Cesc is 100 per cent here. He loves Barcelona, he loves the club. He will stay here next season and give 100 per cent because I know him very well and he’ll want to fight. He’s focused on the club. He wants just to give his best for Barcelona. He’s from Barcelona, he loves Barcelona and he’ll want to start the season to show what he can do. People are talking and talking, but we know he is focused here and ready to start the season,” said Song.
